About the Center for the Cognitive Science of Metaphor

15 May 2002: As metaphor theory has now come of age and there is a wide assortment of work available on the internet, I am no longer accepting new links. I'm providing a cleaned up version of this site to make sure that the information continues to available as the old University of Oregon site is suffering from bitrot and I left the UO over four years ago.

I would currently (1997) appreciate receiving reviews of recent books published on metaphor theory, conceptual blending, and cognitive linguistics more generally. Please e-mail me for proposals. Currently I do not provide books for reviewers, but I can provide suggestions, contacts to the book publishers and (if accepted) online publication.

(The previous announcement)

The online center for the cognitive science of metaphor is dedicated to the dissemination of papers and research work on metaphor. The initial phase of the project (1995) will be to get things rolling by putting up some recent work by Tim Rohrer, Mark Johnson, Mark Turner and George Lakoff. The Center is designed to bring together work on metaphor from a number of related disciplines. The Annotated Bibliography project is a work in progress where works on metaphor theory or closely related to it are briefly (and subjectively) reveiewed. I am actively seeking links and papers for inclusion here. If you would like to establish links to your work here, or would like to submit an entry to be reviewed for the annotated bibliography project, click here to send e-mail to: rohrer@cogsci.ucsd.edu
